Why: A consortium of nine global investment banks created a new entity and appointed KSI People Solutions as the exclusive provider. The culture brief was simple, “not an investment bank”.   With a clear direction, the 20 month partnership was formed to create a FSA compliant organisation by time of launch.

How: The project involved managing a multitude of stakeholders included the investors, steering committees, new leadership and a team of seconded technical experts.  The primary responsibilities were cultural identification, alignment and development of leaders as we brought new people into the greenfield business.  Using a published diagnostic and a series of leadership workshops initial cultural descriptors guided the creation of a values and behaviour framework. In a unique position to ‘design’ our culture, the leaders had the responsibility to role model and align personal values to the espoused.   Matching the ‘said and ‘do’ culture was fundamental as the organisation grew.

Outcomes: FSA approval was received and the organisation established a fully functioning Executive with teams recruited from highly sought after and unique talent pools. The high profile organisation succeeded in changing the nature of trading in Europe and was considered an employer of choice during its time.  Less than five years later, they were acquired by an international stock exchange.

“May and her firm KSI were appointed to manage the HR functions of Turquoise (London) in its earliest days for over a year.  May is a trustworthy and professional individual whom I would be happy to recommend, she gained credibility quickly with myself and my Senior Managers through her professionalism and could be relied upon to provide sound strategic HR advice highlighting relevant implications.  May delivered quality results on time in a rapid growth phase of start-up operations, she has extensive HR and employment experience, worked flexibility and was results-oriented.

May held responsibility for the  design of the HR function within Turquoise, and successfully led her team to ensure we established the right services to support our growing organisation”
